About the Role

The Sr. Telecommunication Engineer provides technical and managerial leadership in the technical design, planning, operation, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of SelectQuote’s Telecommunication’s systems and networks, including shared SIP trunks. They ensure the efficient and reliable operation of all telecom on prem and cloud infrastructure and services, while also providing technical subject matter expertise to internal and external business partners across all divisions and lines of business. This person will be responsible for driving system availability, geographic redundancy efforts, and technical design documentation. The Sr. Telecommunications Engineer also leads SelectQuote’s number reputation management strategy, documentation, management, and implementation. This role manages 3rd party vendor relationships, and is also expected to build effective relationships with internal business stakeholders. Last, but not least, the Sr. Telecommunications Engineer will lead various projects and be responsible for project outcomes, and also assist with CCaaS and UCaaS administration and configurations as needed.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Architect, implement, and support on premise and cloud based telecommunications systems and networks,   including shared SIP trunks.
  • Ensure the efficient and reliable operation of all telecom infrastructure and services, including establishing, promoting, and maintaining internal and external SLAs.
  • Provide escalated technical support and final resolution of  issues as they arise regarding all on prem or cloud based CCaaS, UCaaS, and Telecommunications tools, including carrier escalations
  • Complete detailed root cause analysis post incidents, implementing plans to ensure confidence that repeat issues do not occur.
  • Perform and oversee regular maintenance and upgrades to ensure the systems operate reliably, efficiently, and securely.
  • Work with internal teams to design and implement sustainable, scalable, compliant, and cost effective solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest telecommunications technologies and trends, including how A.I. is evolving and being leveraged within the industry
  • Manage telecommunication vendors and service provider SLAs to ensure the timely delivery of telecommunications services.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for any on prem, cloud based, or 3rd party hosted  telecommunications routing and connectivity
  • Manage the implementation and support of shared SIP trunks and routing
  • Oversee carrier relationships, accountability, and final issue resolution
  • Monitor and cost optimize telecommunications usage rates and negotiations
  • Design and implement an organizational strategy for outbound SPAM tagging, working alongside Sr. business leaders to create tailored solutions to unique needs
  • Manage 3rd party vendors as needed, holding vendors accountable to SLAs and building effective partnerships.
  • Assist with building documentation and ensuring adherence to  IT and Telecommunications policies, procedures, and best practice design and implementation
  • Assist with UCaaS and CCaaS Administration and configuration
  • Manage and mentor junior telecommunications engineers.

Education and Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT related field (or equivalent work experience) preferred
  • At least 10 years of experience in telecommunications engineering.
  • Strong technical background, including expertise in cloud based and 3rd party hosted  telecommunications protocols, routing, and applications
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Past performance configuring shared SIP trunks, ensuring connectivity, and interoperability
  • Experience with network design, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications regulations and standards.
  • Experience leading projects and being responsible for outcomes
  • Experience managing 3rd party vendor relationships and holding 3rd party vendors accountable to SLAs and agreements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience with various UCaaS and CCaaS applications and administration

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Work is performed indoors with potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to office work. Could periodically travel to other office and operational sites.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

The Compensation for this position is listed below. Local minimum wage laws apply. Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed.

 

Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan.

Base Salary Minimum

$125,000
