SelectQuote is looking for an experienced detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team. This individual should work with a high degree of vigilance and integrity possess intellectual curiosity and demonstrate strong accounting and teamwork abilities and have a passion for excellence. This individual should have a solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage high-level aspects of the month-end close processes for the respective through the preparation of journal entries and supporting schedules
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts
• Implement recommendations to improve accounting policies and procedures
• Assist with annual financial audit; prepare audit schedules and answer audit inquiries
• Monthly & quarterly performance of SOX controls
• Analyze and research revenue discrepancies.
• Perform special projects and ad hoc analyses as needed
• Comply with internal controls as a public company

Skills/Abilities:

• Extensive knowledge of GAAP and accrual accounting
• Strong analytical problem-solving and organizational skills
• Highly detail-oriented
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Works well under pressure
• Dependable and flexible
• Preferred experience with ASC 606 and revenue accounting principles

Education and Experience: 

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting finance or other related fields required
• CPA certification and 2 years of experience required; or 5 years of relevant accounting experience required
• Possess an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Experience with large data sets a plus but not required
• Experience with NetSuite & SQL a plus but not required

Certificates/Licenses/Registration:

• CPA and 2 years of public accounting experience are required for candidates with less than 5 years of relevant experience

Physical Requirements:

• Work is performed indoors with potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to office work. Could periodically travel to other office and operational sites.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
