About the Role

The Compliance Manager supports the business by leading and implementing processes and procedures on regulatory issues related to CMS and carrier guidelines. The manager will interact with other departments to effectively communicate compliance issues and will be responsible for the vigilant review and implementation of current CMS and carrier guidelines to ensure industry compliance. The position will manage key objectives set by senior leadership and will leverage competencies such as communication leadership and an analytical mindset. The role works closely with Compliance Leadership, Sales, Human Resources, Marketing, and Quality Assurance to implement compliance maturity.

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • This position has direct supervisory responsibilities. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Continually monitor review and communicate all pertinent CMS and Carrier rules regulations script updates and information to the team.
  • Develop maintain and continuously improve compliance policies procedures and strategies by analyzing effectiveness and aligning functional objectives with organizational goals.
  • Manage and oversee the full lifecycle of compliance investigations and complaints including intake tracking root cause analysis resolution and corrective action implementation.
  • Collaborate with the Compliance Analyst to complete root cause analyses for identified compliance issues.
  • Assist the Marketing Compliance Manager in overseeing the marketing review process as necessary
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as legal, human resources, quality assurance, and sales to ensure alignment on compliance matters and ensure seamless integration across all departments.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for and manage interactions with carriers including responding to inquiries, overseeing external audits, and completing required attestations.
  • Monitor compliance team performance and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met through data-driven management and ongoing coaching.
  • Provide leadership on strategic initiatives including providing strategic updates and compliance reporting to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with the Compliance Continuous Improvement Specialist to assist in the implementation of workflow and process improvements
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with carriers.
  • Develop and maintain a culture of compliance within the organization
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for innovation and efficiency. 
  • Lead coach and develop a high-performing compliance team providing mentorship feedback and career development support.
  • Oversee the offshore compliance team to ensure process alignment and create efficiencies as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills/Abilities: 

  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities with a strategic and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to convey complex regulatory concepts clearly.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and experience using data to drive decisions.
  • Team player with a proactive assertive approach to collaboration.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint and/or G-Suite applications

Education and Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a compliance-related leadership role preferably in insurance healthcare or a regulated environment.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Work is performed indoors with potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to office work. Could periodically travel to other office and operational sites.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
