As an Enterprise Software Architect you will establish and lead the software architectural vision and strategy for our engineering organization. You will be responsible for defining technical standards governance and long-term technology roadmaps that enable our business to scale efficiently across multiple lines of business. Your immediate focus will be architecting and leading the transformation of our current monolithic applications into a modern service-oriented architecture with unified data platforms. You will collaborate with engineering teams across the organization providing ongoing technical leadership and vision while building consensus around software architectural decisions and standards. This role will continue to evolve our technical architecture as business needs grow and technology landscapes change.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Establish and own the enterprise software architectural vision standards and long-term technology strategy for the organization.
• Lead the immediate technical transformation from current monolithic systems to a modern service-oriented architecture then continue evolving the platform as business needs grow.
• Define and document comprehensive API strategies including REST API standards OpenAPI specifications and integration patterns.
• Collaborate with the Platform engineering team to establish technical priorities design decisions and implementation strategies.
• Influence and guide engineering teams across the organization to adopt new architectural patterns migrate from legacy systems and foster engineering culture around API standards and code quality practices.
• Create and maintain detailed technical documentation architecture diagrams and migration plans that serve diverse technical audiences.
• Establish and enforce software architectural governance including API contracts quality gates version control standards and change management processes.
• Partner with IT and business leaders security teams and infrastructure teams to align technical vision with business objectives ensure alignment across application data and infrastructure layers and secure organizational buy-in.
• Evaluate and recommend modern technologies tools and frameworks that support scalable maintainable performant secure and resilient software architecture while considering operational costs and licensing efficiency.
• Create data strategies that support both operational and analytical use cases.
• Lead application-level technical design sessions and software architectural reviews to ensure consistent implementation across teams.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks associated with large-scale system transformation and organizational change.
• Establish metrics and success criteria for architectural initiatives platform adoption and ongoing system health and evolution.
• Stay current with industry best practices in enterprise architecture microservices API design and data platform modernization

Skills/Abilities: 

• Proven track record of successfully leading enterprise-wide software architectural transformations in complex multi-business-line engineering organizations.
• Expert-level understanding of service-oriented architecture microservices patterns and API design principles.
• Strong experience with modern data architecture patterns database design and data integration strategies that support unified platforms and analytics.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills with ability to influence stakeholders at all technical levels from individual contributors to executive leadership.
• Proven ability to drive adoption of new technologies and practices through change leadership and organizational influence without direct authority.
• Experience establishing software architectural governance API standards and cross-team development practices.
• Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures and modern development practices.
• Ability to balance technical excellence with business pragmatism delivery timelines and cost optimization considerations.

Education and Experience:  

• 10+ years of relevant software engineering and architecture experience with at least 5 years in enterprise architecture roles.
• Extensive experience designing and implementing REST APIs service-oriented architectures and API documentation standards including OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.
• Proven experience leading technical transformations involving multiple engineering teams including migrating legacy monolithic applications to modern distributed architectures.
• Strong background in database design data modeling and data integration patterns across relational and NoSQL systems.
• Demonstrated expertise in cloud platforms (AWS preferred) CI/CD tools and modern development tooling.
• Experience with enterprise integration patterns including message queues event-driven architectures and data pipeline design.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle including agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
• Experience with software architectural documentation tools and techniques including C4 model UML or similar frameworks.
• Knowledge of security frameworks for authentication authorization and API security best practices.

Physical Requirements: 

• Work is performed indoors with potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to office work. Could periodically travel to other office and operational sites.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
